This is because the BBC likes to destroy historic broadcasts. I sometimes make VHS tapes of BBC World News so some of it's programming survives into the future.

This was recorded by many many people. I was part of some people who recorded News for many days afterward. I was The MSNBC recorder and got almost three full days of tapes. The Archive has a fair bit of recording housed here. Here is the BBC archive.

That's still no excuse for them erasing their copies. I'm still gonna tape "slow news" days just in case. The BBC was once reporting on brazil and I puked because their reporting was so bad.
